Main Character Analysis

Welcome backk my wonderful followers. Today we will be breaking down my main character in my upcoming opening film, Chasing Perfection. She doesnt have a name, but to make things a little less confusing i will call her Cathy. From my previous blogs, you should have a good idea on what Cathy life looks like in this film.

The main take away i want the viewer to get from this film is that Cathy life is a mess and she is trying to be "perfect". And her attempts to be perfect can be seen within the film. For example, her bedsheets are white, and represent her trying to have her life together. But her room is this purple color and that is meant to represent her instability. All of these little details show the mental state Cathy is in.
A little sneak peek of Cathy's room

From my costuming post, you can see what Cathy is going to wear and why. Our main effect that we want Cathy's outfit to give is that she is trying her best. If you are following Emily's post, she mentions that if we were to continue this into an actual movie, all of Cathy's peers would look very put together, while Cathy will just be in a sweater and jeans, almost like a black sheep.

In the film, Cathy shows a little bit of her funny side, like when she smells her arm pit. This was done represent that she used humor to make up for what she is lacking in. Like how when people say they use humor as a cooping mechanism. Thats who i want Cathy to be. She is supposed to be relatable to everyday people as well as show some kinda gross habits so show the viewer that they are not so different for other people.

The last thing i want to talk about are the props in the film. The main one is the alarm clock what can been seen in the beginning of the film. The alarming (haha you see my clever little pun) sound that plays in the beginning of the film is used to snap Cathy back into reality and turn it into a physical object when she snoozes it. She put it off like everything else she does in life.
