Filming Day (day 2!!)

Welcome backkk my amazing followers. As you may knoow from the title, we are talking about me and Emilys second filming day. The second day went so much more smoother than the first since we kinda knew on what to expect. Our filming location was Emily's bathroom so I had to bring all of my stuff that we needed like the clothes and just like other props to her house so we could make the bathroom how I envisioned.

The first to be filmed I had used my phone because I didn't have another camera but this day I had gotten the camera that Ms. Perez had given me and I wasn't sure if I was gonna use my phone or the camera because we didn't want the quality to be so different between the two scenes so I had bought both and we ended up not even using the camera so I just had brought the really heavy camera for no reason. Which kind of worked out because in some of the scenes it was really tight since about there isn't that big and just having to carry that heavy camera would probably be harder than just having to use a little tiny phone.

Since that scene is set in morning we had to make sure the lighting wasn't coming in super bright since it was like 12:00 o'clock. So we tried to put stuff on the window but since Emily's bathroom walls don't have anything to grip onto every single thing we would put on there would just like fall off because it was too heavy. So at a point we tried to like close the window a little bit and put a jacket that was like hung on by paper clips into the window so it could stay there and cover at least half the window. But jacket was too heavy so I kept on falling down. And we could have just done what we did in my room which was the close the shutters to the light wouldn't come in. But I had thought Emily didn't have shutters and when I asked her she said that she didn't. But as we were hanging the jacket I could see the shutters right outside the window so we just closed the shutters and all our problems had gone away. Emily's mom didn't know we were filming that day and so when she got home she was alarmed by the mess in the bathroom. We used things like smeared toothpaste, use toothpicks some of my old makeup and even some old cotton pads that I used take off my old makeup.

So the first thing we had to record was that transition from my room to the bathroom. And we were really struggling with that transition because it wasn't looking smooth like I wanted it too and I knew it would have been an issue so I would record and then put it into the video and edit it right then and there to make sure that it looks smooth. In my editing post I mentioned trying to figure out how the transition would work and I knew exactly how to do it but there is no way for me to use something to slide across the camera that looked natural enough. so for like an hour we were using different things like a towel to drag it across the screen or the edge of the glass door to swipe across the screen. We ended up using that jacket that we couldn't hang to slip across the screen really quick and i think it came out pretty good.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this in my last post but we use my phone on the cinematic mode so the background would look blurred. But in several shots I took it wouldn't focus on the subject I wanted it to. Especially when there was running water it would focus on something in the background rather than the faucet and the subject. Since we already had recorded the first scene and I had finished editing it I kind of knew what I needed, for example at least four different shots so I could pick out my favorite angle. So this made recording a lot more faster and easier But there is some things that I was trying to convey to Emily but she wouldn't understand what I was trying to say so I would tell her to do something and she didn't understand exactly what I wanted it to be so we would have to do it I five more times than necessary and sometimes I didn't even use them in the final video.

We also tried to get some of the fully sounds today so we didn't have to go back and make them like the faucet running in her brushing her teeth but the bathroom made it sound really echoey so we're going to have to redo them anyways. If me and Emily weren't best friends some of the shots would have definitely be really awkward to shoot. Like I would have to go into the space between her arm and her body so I could pretend like it's a POV shot or when I have to get super close up when she's brushing her teeth. And emily laughs a lot at everything so I would have to tell her stop laughing and that would just make her laugh even more and I would have to wait for her to calm down from her laughing which would inevitably lead to her laughing even more when we started recording again.

Towards the end we didn't exactly have much of a plan so we're kind of just winging it. We cut a part out of her going back to her room and tying them since it didn't really make sense for her to go back to home to put her shoes on so we had made the decision that we wanted to add another scene where she would go to her car. But we had to make up the ending portion of the bathroom scene so it would make sense. So we decided to do an invisible cut between the door of the bathroom opening and the door of the car door opening and I'm not sure if I'll be able to edit that correctly but hopefully it comes out ok. So now we still have to film all of the car on another day and film more sound sense the sounds came out so terribly when we did them that day
