Editing (part 2!!)

Welcome backk the best followers. Today we will be talking about my editing process for the second half of our film opening. The editing for this half was even easier than the second-half since now I had two separate occasions of filming and editing and so I was already familiar with the process I had to do. As I had previously mentioned I recorded a lot more than I had needed since I wanted to have options. I also didn't know how much film I was going to need because I only needed one minute of content, and I wasn't sure how long and how many clips that would take me. So during editing I had gone through the process of adding more clips and deleting more clips and speeding up the clips and speeding up sequences of clips by nesting them. I didn't even include everything that I wanted to include in the video since at the end we didn't have enough time to include everything.

I made all the credits that took me a long time to figure out which font I wanted to use and how exactly I wanted it to work. I had put all the credits on each of the clips and I wasn't happy and how it looked. So I had to go back and change all of them to something different. I also wasn't sure what names to put for the credit so I just put random names like my dog and my cats and Emily's bunnies. I also was having trouble figuring out which order to put all of the credits in so I did a bunch of research on which order they go in but each website would say something different so I kind of just made my on decision. Emily helped me a lot during this editing segment since we were really rushing to finish it. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to convey so I would ask Emily on her opinions on a lot of the stuff and what she thinks I should include or take out even if she didn't know how to do it I would try to do it to my best of my ability and ask her if this is what she thought.

For the transition between the bathroom in the car was supposed to come out differently and I might still change it since I really don't like how choppy it looks. When I got around to the part where Emily hits the trash can and the music turns off, I wasn't sure how I was going to do that, and where that clip is in relation to the music is a downbeat so when you would play it, it would just sound really off. And at the time I didn't understand why it sounded off so I had to ask someone for their opinion and they had told me that I just need to move the music so it was on an upbeat. The whole editing process of the first half took me about four days to get it to a point where I was satisfied with it, but for this half I did it in about a day and 1/2 since I was still doing my other class work.

I deserve an A if i downloaded a virus

We officially changed the name to embers, since we were going to end it with the candle turning off. And So what I had envisioned for the end is she is doing her homework and she looks very burnt out (hence the name Embers) and she is done for the day so she turns off the candle with her fingers. And as soon as the candle goes out the screen goes black and the title of the film would pop up. And so when I was trying to edit this all together I was having a very hard time putting what I imagined to happen in real life. So I put a cross dissolve on the beginning of the black screen so it would look like it was fading into black since when I would just have it cut to black it would just look like a chunk was taking out of the video. I also didn't want the title Embers to be written in plain font since I just didn't think that fit our video, so I had searched up “fonts that look like fire” and downloaded some random font off of Google and hopefully I don't get a virus on my laptop. Even though the video isn't exactly how I have initially envisioned it, I'm still very proud of me and Emily since this is our very first video that we have done.
