Fonts and colors
I talked about fonts and colors before but this post will after the offical fonts and colors and why i chose them. So the font that I was originally going to go with for the credits is Andale Mono. it was basically already set in stone since I already had all the credits with that font. But I was really unhappy and how it looked since it kind of looked like the cousin of comic sans. It probably didn't also help that I had all the names in capital letters and the things like “directed by” in lowercase letters. I was trying to make it seem like the names were more emphasized than the title of the persons but it ended up looking like a Snapchat post. And so I asked nick for his opinion and he had told me that fact that I was capitalizing in lower casing things was the issue. So I had changed everything to normal first letter capitalization and it looked a lot better than it had before but I was still unhappy with it.
For the coloring of the words, I was trying to change the color to match what the rest of the scene vibe was. but sometimes the words kind of just got lost because the color from the clip was inconsistent so if the scene was right and there was a little bit of dark the word would get lost in the middle. So I try to fix this by adding a stroke to the words, but it looked even worse than before and I had no idea what to do and I had asked Emily what to do and she had no idea what to do either so I was very lost and frustrated. What I ended up doing was changing the font of everything and making the main name PT Serif bold and the other names be PT Serif bold italic. and while it still didn't look like a professional movie intro, neither does the entire video so I just had settled on that did it change it anymore. Although I did go back to change the name of the titles to be a smaller font so the name the people was emphasized. While it does get lost sometimes in the background I tried my very best and decided not to stress on it anymore. You can go back to the title sequence blog if you forgot what the original had looked like and that was before I had added the stroke so be glad I saved your eyes from how horrendous it looked. For the title of the film I had already mentioned that I did not want it to look like the others and I want it to stand out.
So the font I use is called Cheap Fire and ideally I would want it to be animated so it kind of looks like the fire is real. But problem with that is I don't know how to animate and I don't want to learn because we are running out of time to finish the project. But if I did have more time I would want it to also add little embers coming off coming up into the top of the screen and like disappearing.
