Lighting

Welcome back every one! Today we will be talking the lighting in Chasing Perfection. Lighting is an essential element in filmmaking that can drastically impact the overall mood and atmosphere of a scene. It can be particularly challenging when filming in a dark space, as adding more light may not always be feasible or desired. In the case of Chasing Perfection, the lighting was a significant issue due to the already dimly lit room. As a result, we had to get creative with out approach.

One solution was to use purple lights underneath the bed to create a more saturated and moody hue. This color choice was intentional, as it was meant to represent the protagonist's instability and unease. By utilizing different lighting techniques, the filmmakers were able to create a unique and impactful visual experience that supported the narrative.

However, achieving the desired lighting wasn't always straightforward. In wider shots, the crew had to juggle multiple devices, including a laptop, to achieve the desired effect. For a shot featuring a character fixing her hair, Emily had to improvise by placing her phone in the closet to illuminate her face.
